The Grant Rule Trust in association with James Kerry Music are planning a special project in memory of Ron Meads, a well-loved local melodeon player and dance caller who died at the end of 2017.
Ron was always keen to encourage people to play and enjoy folk music and the aim of the project will be to draw new folk – particularly younger ones – in to playing and supporting the music we all love.
We are at the planning stage at present, and hope to announce more details shortly.
Funds donated to the Grant Rule Trust in memory of Ron will be dedicated to this project, and there are also two fund-raising concerts planned (see the Events page). There will also be a musical tribute to Ron on Friday afternoon at this year’s Pig’s Ear Folk Ale, performed by his friends, including some of those on whom he foisted a melodeon and persuaded them to start playing.
