Social Capital

“Without our stories or our songs how do we know where we came from?”
– Steve Knightley

Humans are intrinsically social creatures. Communities create value from our desire to communicate, co-operate, care for and compete with each other.

Social capital is the engine house – without it, financial, intellectual and manufactured capital will wither away.

The greater the mix of people, backgrounds and experiences, the richer the community. Sadly, poor communication, fear, ignorance and prejudice prevent us realising much of this potential wealth.

The Trust advocates the value of cultural heritage and creative arts in nurturing human imagination and breaking down barriers.
